You're almost home. but every time you turn you hit another dead end. A new route opens up and you follow it, and now you're so close you can feel it...but there's another dead end...and another new route.
This is the story of Anna Wilson, a singer and songwriter of enormous gifts, who has spent much of her life coming closer and closer to where she belongs.
It hasn't been a quick or easy trip. She's apprenticed in all sides of the music business from staff songwriting to pulicity to journalism. Industry heavyweights have rallied to her music. promised to swing open the last doors still in her way...then disappeared in to a wilderness of mergers and cutbacks as new doors suddenly appeared and slammed shut.
It began one December night in Nashville, when an old friend, singer/songwriter Kevin Montgomery took her to a birthday party for pianist/producer Matt Rollings. Upon Montgomery's insistence, he arranged a meeting for the three of them to get together and write a song. What followed was something that none of them expected: an amazing creative journey of several months, during which the trio spent almost every day together, writing and recording. "We worked all the time, fifteen hours a day, six days a week for nine months straight," Anna remembers. "We were completely immersed in the music. It was beautiful, it really was. And it was the embryo of The Long Way.
