Greg Johnson

Growing up in Auckland New Zealand on an eccentric blend of punk rock, Simon and Garfunkel and classical music, Greg Johnson spent his early youth kicking around in various post punk school bands before starting a job at his local college radio station BFM whilst pretending to do an Architecture and Arts degree. It wasn't long before those degrees went west and Johnson joined late night band Bluespeak and started singing in clubs for a living.

He was soon recognised as an unusually gifted songwriter and started recording under his own name. Vine Street Stories (1996) was his first breakthrough featuring 4 top 20 singles. Two further solo albums followed Chinese Whispers (1998) and Sea Breeze Motel (2001) and Greg's last release the gold album The Best Yet represented some of his best musical moments to date. Greg has produced numerous New Zealand classics such as 'Talk of this Town, 'Don't Wait Another Day', 'Isabelle' and the ARPA winner "Liberty" (Johnson has had five songs voted in the final since 1995).

In February 2002 he re-located to Los Angeles with guitarist Ted Brown where he's been wooing the Americans with the style and warmth we have all come to know and love. Greg's been hard at work recording and playing live. Greg's travels have taken him to England, Ireland, New York City, San Francisco and his regular spot in Santa Monica.
